Lauren Hutton

Master of Masculine Feminine, 1980s
It’s fitting that Hutton was first made famous by 1968 Avedon shots of her leaping with abandon on the pages of Vogue, inspired by a tomboy youth spent cavorting around the swamps and swimming holes of the everglades. From the start, Hutton set a rebellious stake in fashion world, often refusing makeup (not to mention airbrushing and surgical enhancements) and accepting wild (crocodile-wrestling, cockroach chomping) gigs, epitomized by her role in 1980’s American Gigolo, with Richard Gere. Her gap-tooth grin defied established norms and revolutionized the smile. Her ageless masculine-feminine style – double breasted suits, boyfriend jeans with blazers, white tees and moto jackets with everything – remains one of America’s greatest, and most empowered, sources of fashion inspiration.

Chet Baker

Haute Hatter
We love the way Hutton often finishes her look with a hat, always a little off-kilter as though she’s just tossed it on before walking out the door.

Holly Solomon

Shades of Neutral
Hutton keeps it clean and unfussy in a tonal cardigan, tee and trousers. Exotic bangles and a statement belt add sharp contrast, ingeniously transforming the look from plain to poised.

Natalie Wood

The New Mix
On the set of our Denim Democracy campaign, Hutton gravitated to luxe leather moto jackets and chambray shirts, pairing them with our new distressed, high-waisted Charlotte jeans.

River Phoenix

Animal Prints
Jungle-inspired patterns are back for fall. Here, the real-life adventurer proves that a graphic approach accented with geometric hardware makes a strong, unfussy statement.
