Valentine’s Day Do’s & Don’ts With Janelle Lloyd

It’s almost Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re going out with the girls or have a full-on date night planned with bae, first things first—what are you wearing? An easy dress or denim and a flowy top are my Valentine’s Day go-tos. I love the idea of not getting overly dolled up, but instead finding pieces that feel romantic, cool, and a little sexy. This lace-up top shows off just the right amount of skin: collarbone, shoulders, and a subtle peek of arm. The ruffles are perfectly romantic and in black, it’s a fitting date night top. Jeans—always high-waisted for me—keeping the overall look feeling cool and effortless. I paired it with accessories in soft fabrics like velvet and suede for their tactile, feminine quality. Bonus points for a festive pop of red.

When it comes to the location for a date night, I don’t like to overthink it. My fiance and I have the best time together when we’re in our element and feeling relaxed. Try eating at one of your favorite restaurants and splurging on a more decadent meal. Or, go crazy and just order all the desserts on the menu to share! Follow-up with a trip to a bowling alley, shuffleboard club, or pool hall.
